National Volunteer Day Recognition

Volunteers play a critical role in helping shape Australia and building stronger and more resilient communities and supporting individual participation in community life.
Volunteering touches all aspects of Australian society, whether it be helping out with local sporting teams and land care groups, responding to natural disasters and emergencies, or helping local charities support some of our most disadvantaged people.

More than six million Australians volunteer each year, freely giving their time, energy and skills to supporting others.

The Certificate of Appreciation
To help recognise the very important role volunteers fulfil in the Macarthur region, the Certificate of Appreciation for Volunteers has been developed to acknowledge the efforts of outstanding and well-deserved volunteers. I ask that each organisation select one worthy volunteers by filling out the nomination form to receive the award.

Examples of Outstanding Volunteer Qualities
The following qualities are examples of important considerations when identifying individuals within your organisation to be awarded the certificate:
• The volunteer is recognised within the organisation for their significant volunteering contribution, in both time and effort.
• The volunteer’s contribution has made a lasting impact on the Macarthur community.
• The volunteer is a positive role model and sets a good example for other volunteers in the community.
• The volunteer is inspirational, shares their experiences and knowledge, and encourages others to volunteer.

In celebration of International Volunteer Day, I am holding a Volunteer Awards Day to thank and recognise the volunteers of Macarthur. Oftentimes the efforts of volunteers go unrecognised, so I am asking local organisations to nominate worthy volunteers to receive my Certificate of Appreciation, for volunteers based in our region.

This is a unique opportunity to say thank you to the many selfless men and women who contribute so much to our community, making the Macarthur region a fantastic place to live and work.
