2026 is starting off well for Macarthur, with over $1.1 million being invested into local roads by the Federal Labor Government as part of the Federal Black Spot Program.
The Federal Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP, has welcomed this investment, as he has long been advocating for greater funding for local roads to protect the wellbeing of road users and pedestrians alike.
Specifically, $1,190,980 is being invested into making local roads safer for Macarthur residents.
The projects receiving funding include:
Broughton St
CAMPBELLTOWNRaised threshold, crest/dip sign, Vehicle Activated Signs (VAS), mid-block street lighting, Retro Reflective Pavement Markers (RRPMs), high friction surface.
$520,700
Lindesay Street Allman Street
CAMPBELLTOWN
Single lane roundabout.
$399,880
Heritage Way Englorie Park Drive and Copperfield Drive GLEN ALPINE
Raised threshold, pedestrian refuge.
$150,000
Kraal Drive & John Kidd Drive
BLAIR ATHOL

$120,400
These projects will be provided in partnership with Transport for NSW, who will receive this funding to deliver the identified work for each project.
The Black Spot Program funds safety measures such as traffic lights, safety barriers, roundabouts, and pedestrian crossings at locations where a number of serious crashes have occurred or are at risk of occurring.
As such, it is imperative that areas of concern are identified and worked on, which the Federal Government is doing.
The Federal Albanese Government has increased the national Road Black Spot Program from $110m to $150m per year, meaning more money for improving some of the most dangerous sections of our roads.
Quotes attributable to Dr Mike Freelander MP:
“Protecting road users and pedestrians by enhancing the quality and condition of local roads is a priority of mine, and of our Federal Government.
“I welcome this significant investment into our local roads, as the identified projects in Blair Athol, Campbelltown and Glen Alpine will improve safety outcomes for Macarthur residents.”
