23 January 2018

Today the Member for Macarthur presented a cheque to representatives of the Kids of Macarthur Foundation, after securing a grant of $9000 in for the organisation.

The funding is derived from the Stronger Communities Grant program, with the Foundation becoming the first of the announced recipients for this financial year.

“I am truly pleased to have secured this funding for such a fantastic local organisation,” said the Member for Macarthur.

As a local paediatrician for over three decades, and having worked out of Campbelltown Hospital for many years, Dr. Freelander believes this funding will benefit many local families for years to come.

“It is fantastic to have received this much needed funding, and we are highly appreciative of Dr. Freelander for his ongoing support!” said Bruce Hanrahan, Director of the Kids of Macarthur Foundation.

“We are looking forward to purchasing this new equipment for Campbelltown Hospital’s paediatric loan pool, and continuing to improving the health care services available for every child in our region.”

“With this funding, the Foundation is planning on purchasing equipment for the Paediatrics’ Department loan pool. This includes a vital piece of equipment called a Leckey Stander, which assists young children who are unable to walk on their own,” said Dr Freelander.

With the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science and the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development still processing further grant applications supported by Dr. Freelander, a number of other organisations are set to receive funding over the coming months

“I am looking forward to delivering funding for a number of other important projects. Throughout this grant process, we have had a number of fantastic organisations put in expressions of interests, and I am eager for the Departments to finalise their decision!” said Dr Freelander.

With approximately $150, 000 allocated for funding of capital works and similar projects supported by Dr. Freelander, a number of other eligible organisations are set to receive grants once the Government gives their final approval.
