On Friday 3rd November 2017, Dr Mike Freelander MP joined the team at Subway Minto Marketplace as part of the “Live Feed” initiative. The event was held on World Sandwich Day, to raise funds for Foodbank Australia.

Established in 1992, Foodbank is Australia’s largest hunger-relief organisation, and acts as a pantry between the charities and organisations who feed the hungry. In 2016, with the help of its 3000 volunteers, the non-profit organisation provided enough food for over 63 million meals.

“Every year 3.6 million Australians experience food insecurity, so all funds raised will be going to a truly worthy cause”, said the Federal Member for Macarthur.

During the event, Dr Freelander became a “Sandwich Artist”, helping the Subway team prepare a number of footlong sandwiches for customers.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and plan on improving my sandwich making skills for next year.”
