Federal Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander visited local GP Dr Lawrence Demasi for a health check to raise awareness for stroke week.

National Stroke Week is an awareness campaign that takes place from September 12-18.

Dr Freelander is advocating for everybody to make time to get a health check by getting a health check of his own.

Dr Freelander said “A Stroke is a preventable cause of death and disability.”

“It is important as we age to get our blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol checked. We need to avoid risk factors such as smoking and an overindulgence in alcohol”

Speedy reactions to a stroke save lives.

It is important to be aware of the signs and symptoms.
