GETTING THE BOUNCE BACK INTO LOCAL SPORTS

14 April 2025

Labor Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP, today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will upgrade the Minto Indoor Sports Complex to improve the playing experience.

This $2.6 million election commitment will upgrade all four indoor courts to new timber sprung flooring to ensure players of all age groups can safely enjoy the Minto Indoor Sports Complex for many years to come.

With men’s and women’s teams of all abilities competing in basketball, futsal, netball and badminton competitions, as well as social events held at the Complex, this project will enhance the social and sporting experience of Macarthur residents.

With over 132,000 visitors in 2024, Dr Freelander understands the importance of the Minto Indoor Sports Complex in serving the Macarthur region and hopes these upgrades will help the next generation of sporting stars come from South West Sydney.

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.

Quotes attributable to the Federal Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP:

“As a doctor, father and grandfather, I understand the importance of physical activity and ensuring residents of all ages and abilities can access well-maintained sporting facilities, and that is exactly what this election commitment from Federal Labor will deliver.

“Whether it’s a school futsal event, a wheelchair basketball competition or a group of friends entering a netball tournament, our election commitment to upgrade all four courts means the Minto Indoor Sports Complex can continue serving our region for many more years to come.”
