INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE MONUMENT FOR MACARTHUR

Local Labor MP, Dr Mike Freelander, today announced that a re-elected Albanese Labor Government will deliver an International Mother Language Monument in Macarthur to recognise the multicultural community in South West Sydney.  

 

This $50,000 election commitment will help fund the Monument in partnership with Campbelltown City Council to honour and celebrate linguistic diversity. The Monument will stand as a tribute to International Mother Language Day.

 

Macarthur has a rapidly growing multicultural community, and this election commitment will contribute to providing a space for them celebrate their cultures and traditions with the wider community. 

 

The Monument will recognise and promote the right of all people to speak, preserve, and celebrate their native languages.

 

Consistent with past practice, election commitments will be delivered in line with Commonwealth Grants Rules and Principles.
