A Shorten Labor Government will invest $10 million to establish a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Campbelltown Hospital, ensuring local kids can get the medical care they need close to home.

This election is a choice between a Shorten Labor Government with a plan for the health services our community needs, or more cuts and chaos from the Liberals.

Campbelltown has a high number of families with children, but local kids needing intensive care treatment are typically forced to travel to either Westmead or Randwick Hospital.

Under a Shorten Labor Government these children will be able to access desperately needed treatment close to their homes and close to their families.

No parent wants to see their child in intensive care – but children who do need this care should be able to access the best treatment, as close to home as possible.

This project will be delivered as part of the major works already being undertaken at Campbelltown Hospital, ensuring that Campbelltown residents and those in the surrounding region have access to top-quality care and facilities no matter their age.

Labor will put patients before politics and work closely with the South Western Sydney Local Health District and the New South Wales Government on the design and construction of this facility.

This election is a choice between Labor’s plan for better hospitals or bigger tax loopholes for the top end of town under the Liberals.

This investment is a part of a Shorten Labor’s Government plan to invest $1 billion on vital upgrades to Australia’s public hospitals – building new wards with more beds, upgrading emergency departments and theatres, and establishing new palliative care and mental health facilities.

This investment blitz is a key part of Labor’s Fair Go Action Plan to improve our public hospitals and strengthen Medicare.

We can afford to spend more on health care because we’ve made the tough decisions to make multinationals pay their fair share and close unfair tax loopholes.

This $1 billion worth of capital investments will come on top of our commitment to restore the core public hospital funding cut by the Liberals.

A Shorten Labor Government will always invest more on health and hospital services than the Liberals.

Labor knows there’s nothing more important than your family’s health – that’s why we will always fight for better health care and why only Dr Mike Freelander and Labor can be trusted to fix Australia’s hospitals and deliver a paediatric ICU to Campbelltown Hospital.
