The Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP, has launched a community campaign, urging the Coalition Government to bring forward infrastructure spending in Macarthur.
The campaign, in Dr Freelander’s words, is designed to create job opportunities for Macarthur residents and to “kickstart Macarthur’s economy” in the process.
“The COVID-19 pandemic has been the greatest health crisis of our generation,” said the Member for Macarthur.
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to the frontline staff who have worked tirelessly throughout this crisis, and enabled us to get to a position in which we look to our recovery.”
“This recovery must include support for our struggling local businesses, support for families, and the creation of jobs to boost our local economy,” said Dr Freelander.
Dr Freelander has highlighted the need for investment in infrastructure projects, to provide job opportunities for Macarthur residents.
“Our economy was floundering before the bushfires, and before COVID-19,” said Dr Mike Freelander MP.
“The Government has consistently failed to commit to vital infrastructure projects, which would create jobs for our community. This is despite fact that Macarthur’s unemployment and underemployment rates have been well above the national average.”
“In consultation with Macarthur residents, I want to send the Prime Minister a clear message; the Government must commit to vital infrastructure projects for our growing community.”
“It is time to finally fund the rail link from Macarthur to the new airport, deliver on promised infrastructure funding, and provide essential services to our rapidly growing suburbs.”
