The Member for Macarthur, Dr Mike Freelander MP, today hosted Labor’s Shadow Minister for Education and Women, Tanya Plibersek MP, for a tour of Macarthur.
Dr Freelander said that the visit was indicative of Labor’s commitment to the region.
The Member for Sydney is the latest member of the Shadow Ministry to join Dr Freelander for a visit to Macarthur, joining a growing list of MPs who have toured the region in recent months.
“Macarthur will always be a priority for federal Labor – I am appreciative that my colleagues understand the importance of investing in our growing region,” said Dr Freelander.
During the visit the pair visited John Therry Catholic High School in Rosemeadow, and toured local manufacturing firm DECO Australia, located in Minto.
“I always enjoy visiting Macarthur and meeting with local residents and business owners,” said Tanya Plibersek.
“Macarthur is a wonderful place to live and work. It is inexcusable that the Coalition continues to turn a blind eye to this growing region’s needs.
“Schools in Macarthur are doing a terrific job educating our kids.
“But sadly, Macarthur schools are being ignored by Scott Morrison and the Coalition.
“Unlike Scott Morrison, Dr Mike Freelander is fighting hard to make sure local schools get the help they need.
“Labor believes education is the ticket to a lifetime of opportunity.
“We want every Australian to get a great education, no matter where they live – to have the education they need for job they want.
