This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation. For all of that time, the foundation has been led by a force of nature, Denise McGrath. Denise puts the interests and health needs of Macarthur's children above all else. For 25 years, she has raised the Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation to prominence in our community. She raises money all the time—12 months of the year—to provide much-needed support to kids who have chronic illnesses and severe illnesses so that they can be managed as much as possible at home. She also works so that, when kids are in hospital, they have extra needs met—things like videos, computers and all the new media that kids are interested in—to make their time much more interesting and supportive. She has done this selflessly. I've known her for more years than I can count, and she works tirelessly for the kids of Macarthur. It's my real pleasure to have dealt with her and the work she's done for the kids in our hospitals and at home over all of those 25 years. This year she's announced her retirement from her role, and I'm very sad to see that. She's been incredibly supportive to paediatricians like me and to the teams from Sydney's Children's Hospital at Westmead, who have children with chronic illnesses such as malignancies, leukemia, congenital heart disease and chronic and intractable epilepsy, to make their treatments better and to make it possible for parents to take them home and have treatment at home rather than keeping them in hospital. It's made a huge difference to many of the families that I've cared for in the last 25 years.

Kids of Macarthur is a fantastic organisation, but it's reached that promise in the community because of the hard work of Denise. She can get money from anyone for the kids' needs. She is a really fantastic member of our local community, and I certainly wish her well in her next endeavours. I'm sure she won't be retiring completely. She's so active and so positive that she really makes our Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation and the families that need them feel really blessed to have her there in their corner. Through Denise's leadership, the Kids of Macarthur has raised tens of millions of dollars for the health needs of kids and to support the doctors, the medical teams and the nursing staff in their jobs. I'm very proud to know her. I'm very grateful to have worked with her. I'm very grateful for my mate Ric Dunstan, who started Kids of Macarthur Health Foundation, and for all of the work that has been done by them in the last 25 years. I look forward to supporting them for another 25 years.
